The Mentor (天梁, Tiān Liáng — also written tianliang) is one of the 14 main stars of Zi Wei Dou Shu: the elder star — protective, principled, wise beyond its years.
Its nature
Tian Liang is the elder: protective, principled and old-souled, the one people bring their problems to. It carries a gift for turning danger into safety — trouble arrives so it can be resolved, and it usually is — and it belongs in law, medicine, teaching and spiritual life, where its steadiness and authority are the point.
The shadow side
The Mentor lectures, and carries burdens no one asked it to carry. It leans lonely and often marries late; its caution is to let others take responsibility for their own lives, and — the old warning — not to chase reward too openly, since name suits it better than gain.
